As of August 12, 2026, I will no longer be teaching at the Wilmette Park District. Additionally, I will no longer be teaching behavior group classes. I will continue to teach K9 NOSE WORK® and scent work classes in a new location. And I will continue to work with behavior clients privately.
You must bring your own soft-sided, collapsible crate to class. I will not be providing crates. Dogs are crated in class because we work both on and off lead. We do not want the working dog to become stressed about a dog pulling towards him/her or staring at the working dog while your dog is waiting his/her turn.
LOCATION: Fostering Movement Studio, 3421 Church St, Evanston, IL 60203. This is a pilates studio in a small strip mall.
COST: Continuing Nose Work®: $100 for 4 one hour classes
Intro to K9 Nose Work® and Intro to Odor®: 8 forty minute sessions for $200. You do not need to do all eight weeks contiguously. If you must skip a week or two, that time will be added on to the end of your 8 sessions.
Classes are ongoing so there is no specific start date.
Continuing Nose Work® students can start the 4 week block of classes anytime. Contact me directly at Sally@Bushwaller.com to sign up for a class and arrange payment.
NO CLASS DATES WILL ALWAYS BE LISTED HERE.
No class September 8, 9, 15, 16, Oct 21.
Intro to K9 Nose Work®
K9 Nose Work® is an exciting dog sport that allows dogs to do what they are genetically predisposed to do — use their noses! K9 Nose Work® gives your dog a “job”, builds confidence, teaches creative problem solving, provides great mental exercise, and much more by encouraging your dog’s innate drive to hunt and find scent. If you’re interested in finding new ways to continue to build your relationship with your dog while having fun and doing something dogs love to do, then K9 Nose Work® is for you! (Note, dogs will be confined in crates and/or behind barriers when they are not working, therefore even dogs who don’t love other dogs can attend and enjoy this class).
Time: 6:15 pm – 6:55 pm 8 weeks
Start Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2026
Intro to Odor®
Once dogs are fluent in the foundational skills they learn in Intro to Nose Work®, they are ready to move on to hunting for novel target odors. Dogs will practice hunting for these odors in interior, exterior, vehicle and container searches. We will be working both inside and outside. Dogs must be crated in class and/or behind a barrier. The prerequisite for this class is at least one full session of Intro to Nose Work. You must contact Sally Bushwaller, sally@bushwaller.com, to see if your dog is eligible for this class, prior to signing up.
Time: 6:15 pm – 6:55 pm 8 weeks
Start Date: Tuesday, August 18, 2026
Continuing K9 Nose Work® — Do not enter until the previous class has exited.
You and your dog must have taken Intro to K9 Nose Work®. In this class we work on complex hides, work in different rooms, practice container, buried, vehicle and exterior searches, and go on field trips.
